Our clients engaged McInturff Architects to assist them with transforming an old dairy barn in the Virginia countryside into a new second home.
While superficially straightforward – no major walls were added or removed – the project required the surgical insertion of structural steel and removal of cattle troughs, a silage chute and other agricultural remnants. The new home sits in a cluster of other farm buildings and marries modern and warm living space with the aesthetic of rural life.
