Georgetown Waterfront Condominium

This Georgetown condominium has certainly always been advantageously situated, with its view of the Key Bridge spanning the Potomac River, but the home’s original layout just didn’t properly take advantage of such a grand vista. We implemented the design work of McGraw Bagnoli Architects to remove interior walls and reconfigure the floor plan in order to more fully integrate the home’s interior with its beautiful surroundings. The result is simply breathtaking.

Politics & Prose Coffeehouse

This iconic independent bookstore is a much loved neighborhood institution. Equally loved but with all the charm of a suburban rec room crossed with a dowdy college apartment living room, the bookstore’s coffeehouse desperately needed a makeover. We worked with McInturff Architects to enlarge the coffeehouse and add an element of warmth and earthy elegance. The renovation has been a huge hit with the bookstore’s loyal clientele who love the low key charm of the remodeled space.

Mary’s House

Our client wanted to move to Washington to be closer to family. She bought a tired old house in Wesley Heights and engaged architect Griz Dwight of Grizform Design to help her make the home a warm and inviting place for spending time with family and entertaining. The house embraces a forward-leaning transitional style that uses restrained splashes of color and an elegant design palate. The result is a home that is meant to be lived in but surprises with exquisite detail and simplicity.

The Crest at Congressional Plaza

This suburban apartment complex had a courtyard swimming pool and community living room that suffered from an abject lack of warmth and charm and, not surprisingly, an almost total lack of use. The complex’s owners retained McInturff Architects and Added Dimensions to reorganize and update the building’s common space in order to inject a palpably modern, energetic vibe, balanced with an aura of intimacy that encourages interaction among residents.

The Writer’s Center of Bethesda

Once home to the Bethesda Youth Center, this building fell into disrepair since it closed in 1970, but our creative clients and McInturff Architects envisioned a new life for it. They conceived of a bright, modern space that would be the locus of literary creation, expression and dissemination. We were pleased to lead the transformation of this building, including the addition of light-filled classrooms, a writer’s studio, a coffee lounge and private workstations.

Potomac Residence

Our clients lived for years in what can only be described as a standard, everyday Potomac house. Working with an inspired design by Robert Gurney Architects, we transformed the home into a space that is warm and inviting and suffused with remarkable light. Both the exterior and the interior feature rich textural materiality that compliment the structure’s visual simplicity. This is a house that makes you want to come home.
