Our client, a nationally-known contemporary painter who paints canvases measuring up to 9′ x 9,’ had been working out of a tiny bedroom.

ColePrévost designed a live/work space that was incorporated into the rear of the client’s Chevy Chase home. The studio includes a painting rig that is perched above a slot in the floor, allowing canvases to be lowered almost 4 feet below floor level. The living space includes a spacious office with a view of the painting studio and a luxurious bathroom with a Japanese-style soaking tub, custom built from slabs of granite. We returned two years after completing the studio to build an up-dated contemporary kitchen.
